For Immediate Release Email Contact / www.seedsofluck.com From Africa to America: New Book Offers A Spiritual Twist On The Classic Immigration Story Long Beach, CA - In his new book, "America, Here I Come," Nigerian-born Isaac Nwokogba offers a far more complicated -- and spiritually rich -- story than the familiar tale of "Immigrant Yearns to Come to America, Arrives with Pennies in His Pocket, Works Hard, Makes Good." The story opens before the author's birth, when he conferred with his celestial advisors on which family would provide suitable circumstances for the next stage in his karmic journey. For every challenge or triumph, from talking his way into a brigade of boy soldiers during the Nigerian civil war to using telepathy to engineer a rescue from being held at gunpoint, Nwokogba presents the spiritual lessons of each turn of the story. When Nwokogba arrived in Oklahoma to study engineering, he had few preconceptions about the U.S. but soon came face to face with racist attitudes that disheartened him to the extent that he found it difficult to continue in school. Only after several years of struggle did he realize that racism hit him so hard because he'd been a slave owner in a previous life. With this understanding, and much effort devoted to his spiritual development, he managed to pull himself together to complete his education, earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree. Success on the job front did not come easily, either, as Nwokogba drove a cab for several years and friends told him he was getting farther and farther from a job commensurate with his abilities. Yet one day he received a vision of an office waiting for him, and that soon turned into reality. Although Nwokogba has served for many years as a rate analyst in Texas and California, he ends the book at the point where he has come to terms with some of the most difficult aspects of Cosmic Law. America's role in his fulfilling of his spiritual destiny, not the democratic ideal of America, is his focus in the book. America, Here I Come (ISBN 1-58820-104-X; paperback, list price $15.54) is now available through 1stBooks Library at www.1stbooks.com, 800-839-8640, online retailers and bookstores nationwide. |
